Anissa’s rustic modern style is on full display in their recent home remodel, which blends elements of classic farmhouse charm with a clean, contemporary eye for design. This residence is her family’s own new home (House Nine, for those that have been keeping track since the original House Seven that inspired their name), which is currently being renovated to reflect her family’s aesthetic and lifestyle. The Moreau Sofa was a perfect choice for their relaxed living room, featuring subtly sloped arms and an abundance of cushions. “I love the large bolster combined with the 3 smaller ones…adding dimension and detail,” says the designer. The sofa became a soft, welcoming centerpiece in the space, a cozy room that delivers rural simplicity with modern appeal in Anissa’s signature neutral palette.

When styling a piece as iconic as the Moreau Sofa, Anissa believes that little touches can make the greatest impact, such as draping an interesting blanket over the back. “It adds that extra layer of texture,” she says, “and is also a practical way of protecting the back of your sofa if it’s exposed in a room.” To take this idea one step further, the designer adds, “I love a blanket thrown over the arm of the sofa to create a relaxed look in a space.” With its classic, elegant lines and generously cushioned seating, this sofa almost needs no further embellishment. For those looking to add a splash of something extra, though, Anissa suggests one or two smaller pillows as a way to experiment with contrasting colors.
